Conformity Assessment with Technical Regulations
Conformity assessment with technical regulations is the process of verifying a product’s compliance with established requirements, for which the manufacturer holds primary responsibility. If a product falls under the scope of Technical Regulations, conformity assessment is mandatory. The result of this assessment is technical documentation, namely a Declaration of Conformity. Technical regulations define only safety requirements, while additional requirements may be found in other regulatory documents, which should also be taken into account during production.
Certification is the control of product characteristics initiated by an interested party who contacts a certification body. The body helps determine the most suitable certification method. A certificate is required for placing products in retail chains, participating in tenders, increasing consumer trust, and enhancing competitiveness. Certification of products, services, and management systems is generally voluntary.
